Easy
Water Care Maintenance Schedule for Bromine.

<Back
The goal of this program is clean
healthy water. The following instructions are based
on average usage (1-2 persons 3 times per week). An
increase in bather load will dramatically affect water
quality and require chemicals to be added more frequently.
Filling the Spa
- Add one bottle of Metal Gon to the
perimeter of the spa immediately after filling to
neutralize iron, copper, and other minerals in the
water-run jets for 30 minutes.
- Once the spa reaches set temperature,
test levels of alkalinity, pH and calcium hardness.
Add Spa Up (to increase) or Spa Down (to decrease)
to 80-12 ppm alkalinity and 7.2-7.6 pH as needed.
Optional: add 1 bottle of pH Balance to help prevent
pH drift once your pH is in the ideal range. Add Calcium
Booster to increase calcium hardness to 150-250 ppm
as needed.
- Add 2-4 Bromine Tablets to your
bromine dispenser. To get an immediate reading add
2 oz. Sodium Bromide. Your test strip should read
a level of 3-5 PPM. (First time spa owners do not
have bromine in the starter kits- use Chlorine to
reach a level of 3-5 ppm on a test strip.)
- Keep the spa cover ON and Locked
and the air controls closed when not using the spa
to keep it warm and ready.
Weekly
- Test water levels of total alkalinity
and pH every few days and adjust as necessary to maintain
a level of 7.2-7.6 pH.
- Add bromine tablets as needed to
maintain 3-5ppm-this may need to be done more than
once a week. (Chlorine can be used during and/or after
heavy use.)
- Add 2 oz. of Renew or 3 tablets
of Renew Tablets per 250 gallons oxidizing shock treatment
once a week to reduce foam and odors. Be sure to run
spa with the cover open for 15 minutes.
- Alternate 2 oz of Defender once
every other week to keep scale and stain from building
on the heater element and spa shell. Add 2 oz. of
Bright & Clear or 2 oz. of Enzyme once every other
week to keep the water clear - DO NOT add within 12
hours of another product.
Monthly
Pleated cleanable filters:
Clean the filter cartridge at
least once a month by soaking in a solution of 16
oz. of Filter Clean and 4 gal. water, then spray it
with fresh water to rinse. Replace the filter cartridge
every 12-18 months. Instant Cartridge Clean can be
used as a pretreatment before a soak, or if a full
soak is not possible.
Disposable filters:
with a 2 part filter system,
the small Microclean should be replaced every 3 months,
pleated portion only to be cleaned with above instructions
and replaced 12-18 months. Large Microclean is a fully
disposable filter - Do Not Soak. Replace every 6-9
months. Can hose off visible debris with light spray.
Every Three Months
- Drain water and clean the spa shell
every three months with Citrabright, then rinse and
polish the shell with Fast Gloss. Enzyme can be used
on tough stains on spa shell.
- Clean the spa cover and polish with
303 Protectant to preserve and protect the vinyl every
three months.
Yearly
Before draining your spa add
1 bottle of Jet Clean to your spa water to prevent buildup
of organics, oils and minerals. Follow directions on
bottle for exact procedure.
