Easy Water Care Maintenance Schedule   for The Natural

<Back

The goal of this program is clean healthy water. The following instructions are based on average usage (1-2 persons 3 times per week). An increase in bather load will dramatically affect water quality and require chemicals to be added more frequently.

Filling the Spa

  1. Circulate the spa water for at least 15 minutes before adding chemicals.

  2. Using The Natural with a NEW spa, begin at step 4 with a freshly filled tub.

  3. Using The Natural with an OLD spa for the first time:

    a. All excess build up of contaminants in the spa's system needs to be removed by using The Natural Purge before using The Natural. The Natural Purge only needs to be used one time. Do not use the spa during the purge process.

    b. Remove the filter. You must keep the filter out of the spa for the entire purge process. Be very sure nothing is floating in the spa during this time. Soak the filter during the purge process in 16 oz. of Filter Clean with 4 gallons of water.

    c. Using the old water, pour in one 16 oz. bottle of The Natural Purge. If the spa is more than five years old, use two bottles.

    d. Let the spa circulate for a minimum of eight hours per day for five days.

    e. After five days, drain the water and flush out the plumbing. To do this, put a hose in the filter area and fill up the foot well of the tub, then drain and clean the well. This will remove any remaining contaminates in the plumbing.

    f. Refill the spa and put a clean and well rinsed filter back into the spa.

  4. Add one bottle of Metal Gon to the perimeter of the spa immediately after filling to neutralize iron, copper, and other minerals in the water.

  5. Wait for the water to reach at least 90° F before continuing with instructions.

  6. Test levels of alkalinity, pH and calcium hardness. Add Spa Up (to increase) or Spa Down (to decrease) to 80-120 ppm alkalinity and 8.0 to 8.4 pH as needed. Optional: add 1 bottle of pH Balance to help prevent pH drift once your pH is in the ideal range. Add Calcium Booster to increase calcium hardness to 250-450 ppm as needed. DO NOT use pH Balance with The Natural.

  7. Add ½ oz. Chlorine to a level of .5 PPM (one half of 1 PPM).

  8. Add one 16 oz. bottle of The Natural for spas up to 500 gallons. DO NOT add The Natural until the water is 90 degrees or warmer.

  9. Keep the spa cover ON and LOCKED and the air controls closed when not using the spa to keep it warm and ready.

Weekly

  1. Test water levels of total alkalinity, pH, and chlorine every few days and adjust as necessary to maintain a level of 8.0 to 8.4 pH and a level of .5 ppm chlorine. (Extra chlorine may be needed after heavy use.)

  2. Add 2 oz. of Defender once every other week to keep stain and scale from building on the heater and spa shell.
Monthly

Pleated cleanable filters: Clean the filter cartridge at least once a month by soaking in a solution of 16 oz. of Filter Clean and 4 gal. water, then spray it with fresh water to rinse. Replace the filter cartridge every 12-18 months. Instant Cartridge Clean can be used as a pretreatment before a soak, or if a full soak is not possible.

Disposable filters:
with a 2 part filter system, the small Microclean should be replaced every 3 months, pleated portion only to be cleaned with above instructions and replaced 12-18 months. Large Microclean is a fully disposable filter - Do Not Soak. Replace every 6-9 months. Can hose off visible debris with light spray.

Every Three Months

  1. Add a new bottle of The Natural every three months

  2. Clean the spa cover and polish with 303 Protectant to preserve and protect the vinyl every three months.

Yearly

Before draining your spa add 1 bottle of Jet Clean to your spa water to prevent buildup of organics, oils and minerals. Follow directions on bottle for exact procedure.
Additional Notes:
  1. At this time, it is not recommended to use any liquid fragrances or moisturizers in the spa. Sundance SunScents and Tropical Spa Fruits aromatherapy and SpaZazz Water Color Crystals and InSPAration Spa Pearls are suitable to use.

  2. The Natural is a positively charged ion. The tub's surface is a negatively charged ion. Once in a ninety day period they will bond and you may notice a slight film develop on the surface of the tub. To break this bond you can wipe the inside of the tub with a clean cloth, sponge, or your hand.

  3. At times you may experience an organic smell or foam. This means The Natural has found contaminants and is working harder. 2-4 oz. Renew or Renewtabs oxidizer will help reduce odors and foam clear up faster. This could also suggest the filter requires more frequent cleanings. Another sign the filter needs more frequent cleanings is a noticeable reduction of jet pressure.

  4. At times you may experience cloudiness in the spa. Most cloudiness is caused by oils in the water such as lotions or body oils. To clear this up, rinse the filter well and use 4 oz. of Bright & Clear. If this does not seem to work, adding ½-1 oz. of Chlorine will help The Natural clear up the cloudiness faster.
